Jakub Sipos
Independent filmmaker and photographer graduated Master degree at photography department at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava, Slovakia.
His first documentary “The Right Place: Nine Islands“ (2017) shows the importance of particular ecological issues of nowadays through interviews and opinions of the local people who are connected through surfing and the ocean itself. The documentary creates the message saying we need to take better care of our „home“.
In 2017, he co-founded the civic association People of Hope. In 2018, the organization realized project „Water for Senegal“. Within the project they installed 200 filters in 5 villages in Casamance area in the south of Senegal, in 4 local schools and built a new roof over the water tank in a local village. Their project has impact on more than 2000 people by improving their living conditions and giving them access to clean water. They are currently preparing a campaign to continue the project in Senegal.
He is currently working on the documentary Waste is Us, which will provide a comprehensive picture of the world of waste, offering a behind-the-scenes look from the places where waste is generated, processed and „disappeared“. The film points out the need to recycle our thinking.
